Community Feedback: A Collections Task Force to Mitigate Potential Loss or Disruption of Biological Collections

On May 6, 2025, iDigBio hosted a webinar in collaboration with staff and students from Duke University titled “From Specimens to Stories: Defending Herbaria and Reconnecting Science with Society.” During the webinar, attendees were invited to share insights about the current state of their collections and offer ideas for how a potential Collections Task Force could support the community in facing future challenges—ranging from budget cuts to natural disasters.

The feedback received has been summarized in this document.

In response to this input, the Collections Action Task Force is exploring the development of a webinar series aimed at addressing the needs and priorities identified by the community. To help shape this effort, we invite you to indicate which topics would be most useful to you—and to suggest any additional ideas—via this form.
